Number of Degree-Holding Researchers Rises in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan had 15,500 researchers with advanced academic degrees as of 1 January 2026, while the number of Doctor of Science (DSc) holders increased by 60%, official data showed.

The National Committee on Statistics reports an increase in the number of degree-holding researchers in Uzbekistan. As of January 1, 2026, the country had 15,500 researchers possessing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Candidate of Sciences, or an equivalent foreign academic degree.

This represents a rise of 1,400 individuals, or 9.9%, compared to the figure from the previous year on the same date.

Furthermore, the number of researchers holding a Doctor of Science (DSc) degree reached 4,800. The statistics committee noted a significant increase of 1,800 in this figure over the year, marking a 60% growth.
