Nearly 12 kg of Hashish Seized in Uzbekistan Operations
Uzbek law enforcement agencies seized nearly 12 kg of hashish in operations in the Namangan and Tashkent regions and opened criminal cases.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have confiscated nearly 12 kg of hashish in a series of operations targeting drug trafficking. The State Security Service, Interior Ministry, and customs authorities collaborated to thwart attempts to distribute a substantial quantity of illicit narcotics smuggled into the country from a neighboring nation.
In Namangan, officers intercepted a Nexia passenger car, leading to the discovery of 944 grams of hashish on a passenger, a man born in 1978 with a prior drug conviction. An initial inquiry revealed that the suspect had acquired the drugs for US$9,900 from a Namangan resident, born in 1982, who was subsequently apprehended. Authorities seized US$9,200 and 18.4 million soums from the alleged supplier, which were documented as evidence.
Further into the operation, law enforcement detained two individuals from the Andijan region, born in 1987 and 1998, who were traveling in a Lacetti passenger car. A search of their vehicle yielded 9 kg 801 grams of hashish.
Separately, in the Tashkent region, officers from the regional State Security Service, Interior Ministry, and customs authorities apprehended a Bekabad resident, born in 1985, as he retrieved 977 grams of hashish that had been stashed by drug couriers.
Cumulatively, these two operations led to the confiscation of 11 kg 722 grams of hashish. Criminal proceedings have been initiated in both cases, and investigations are ongoing.
