Low-Income Families Receive 179.2 Billion Soums in VAT Cashback
More than 651,300 consumers in Uzbekistan received 179.2 billion soums in social VAT cashback in the first half of 2026, according to the Tax Committee.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – According to the Tax Committee, Uzbek consumers from low-income households were issued 179.2 billion soums in social VAT cashback between January and June of 2026.
Over the initial six months of the year, a total of 651,300 consumers benefited from these social VAT cashback payments, amounting to 179.2 billion soums.
Andijan Region recorded the highest distribution, with recipients there receiving 96.3 billion soums. Tashkent saw payments reach 15.2 billion soums, while Samarkand Region's payments totaled 14 billion soums.
Citizens listed in the Unified Social Protection Register are eligible for social VAT cashback. When these individuals buy qualifying items from retailers, they are reimbursed 12% of the purchase price as a VAT refund, which is significantly higher than the standard 1% cashback rate.
The social VAT cashback system was implemented on May 1, 2023. To claim their payment, consumers are required to scan the QR code on their receipt using the Soliq mobile application.
