Kuylyuk Market Faces Partial Closure Due to Fire Safety Breaches

The Main Department for Emergency Situations in Tashkent has imposed a partial suspension of activities at Kuylyuk Market, citing the discovery of multiple fire safety infractions, as confirmed by the department's press service.
Specialists from the state fire safety supervision unit conducted an inspection, uncovering several deficiencies within the retail complex. Notably, personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations pinpointed a non-operational sprinkler fire suppression system located in one section of the market.
The department stated that these identified shortcomings posed a significant risk of fires and other hazardous outcomes for both individuals and their possessions. Consequently, a portion of the shopping complex has had its electricity supply disconnected following the inspection.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the market will be permitted to resume full operations once its management rectifies all identified violations.
These inspections are part of a broader initiative aimed at preventing fires, safeguarding the lives and well-being of citizens, and averting property damage. Similar assessments are currently underway across Tashkent and other regions throughout Uzbekistan.
In June, Tashkent Hokim Shavkat Umurzakov implemented a "special fire safety regime" within the capital. This intensified preventative effort included directives for technical inspections of water heating boilers, as well as electrical and gas networks in residential properties. Additionally, catering establishments were prohibited from utilizing household gas cylinders.
