Kazakhstan and Pakistan discuss expanding cooperation in digital technologies, AI

Kazakhstan and Pakistan recently explored avenues for greater collaboration in the fields of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and innovation. This discussion occurred during a meeting between Yerzhan Kistafin, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Pakistan, and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication.

The meeting, held on July 30, centered on the ongoing progress of information technology and telecommunications cooperation between the two nations, as reported by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both parties assessed the execution of agreements established during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's state visit to Pakistan on February 3–4. This included a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and Pakistan's Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.

Officials underscored the inauguration of the inaugural Kazakhstan–Pakistan Artificial Intelligence Center at GIFT University in Gujranwala on July 6, recognizing it as a tangible early achievement of their bilateral cooperation.

Further discussions involved potential enhancements to cooperation between Kazakhstan's Astana Hub and Pakistan's Ignite National Technology Fund. They also investigated methods to foster direct partnerships between IT companies and startup ecosystems in both countries.

Pakistan reiterated its commitment to advancing digital sector cooperation with Kazakhstan. Minister Khawaja voiced her support for cultivating direct relationships among pertinent government agencies, development institutions, and technology firms.

Concluding the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to fulfilling existing agreements and initiating new joint ventures in digital technologies.
