An IT Park Uzbekistan delegation held talks in Hong Kong with Cyberport to launch joint startup, venture capital, and artificial intelligence projects.

IT Park Uzbekistan Enhances Collaboration with Cyberport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from IT Park Uzbekistan, headed by Supervisory Board Chairman Farhod Ibragimov and Director General Azamat Karamatov, conducted a series of meetings in Hong Kong with the leadership of the Cyberport innovation hub and representatives from its ecosystem companies.

As reported by IT Park Uzbekistan, the discussions centered on fostering cooperation based on a previously signed memorandum and initiating joint projects in the areas of startups, venture capital investments, and artificial intelligence.

The two parties also explored ways to enhance opportunities for technology firms from Uzbekistan and Hong Kong to penetrate the markets of Central and East Asia.

Dr. Rocky Cheng, the Chief Executive Officer of Cyberport, showcased the organization's ecosystem, which encompasses around 2,400 technology companies and startups. These entities are engaged in sectors such as artificial intelligence, financial technologies, blockchain, cybersecurity, and digital entertainment. Cheng emphasized the development of infrastructure for AI initiatives, including the creation of a supercomputing center, along with government support measures and commercialization strategies for innovations.

Farhod Ibragimov elaborated on the growth of Uzbekistan's technology ecosystem, outlining the initiatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, the IT Park Ventures and IT Park Capital funds, data center projects, IT Park University, and the Enterprise Uzbekistan initiative. He pointed out that Uzbekistan is continually working to create favorable conditions for international technology firms and investors.

During the discussions, both parties agreed to move from general cooperation to the practical execution of joint initiatives. Key priorities identified include launching mutual soft-landing programs, fostering partnerships between startups and investors, exploring the establishment of a joint venture fund, sharing insights on innovation infrastructure development, and organizing educational and business events. Cyberport representatives and its resident companies were invited to take part in ICT Week Uzbekistan, scheduled for September 2026.

A dedicated business session was held to present the opportunities available within IT Park Uzbekistan to Cyberport resident companies. Participants were informed about the criteria for obtaining resident status, state support measures, soft-landing programs, and the potential for entering the Central Asian market via Uzbekistan. Bahodir Ayupov highlighted the opportunities under the Enterprise Uzbekistan initiative, detailing the regulatory framework being developed based on common law and the investor protection mechanisms in place.

Business representatives expressed interest in collaborative projects related to artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, digital twins, geoinformation technologies, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, robotics, agricultural technologies, and enterprise software development. The discussions also covered talent training, outsourcing, and pilot projects with both public and private organizations.

Following the meetings, company representatives affirmed their interest in further collaboration with IT Park Uzbekistan, participation in ICT Week Uzbekistan, and the advancement of joint initiatives. IT Park Uzbekistan expressed its commitment to assist foreign partners at every stage of entering the national market, including business registration, recruitment, establishing business connections, and executing pilot projects.
