Ilham Aliyev and Donald Trump spoke by phone
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on August 8. The press service of the President of Azerbaijan reported this.
During the telephone conversation, Aliyev noted that the Joint Declaration signed under the witness of Trump and the Agreement on the Establishment of Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have put an end to the conflict in the region and strengthened peace. He expressed gratitude to the US President for this.
Trump also highly appreciated President Ilham Aliyev's contribution to the peace process. The export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia, the transportation of transit cargo to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan, and the establishment of trade relations between the two countries were recognized as positive developments.
The politicians also drew attention to the importance of the TRIPP project. Azerbaijan announced that work on transport infrastructure is in the final stage. It was hoped that work on the TRIPP project will begin soon on the territory of Armenia.
The signing of the document on strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States was assessed as a historic event. The Azerbaijani leader also expressed gratitude to the US President for the invitation to the G20 summit.
For information, on August 7, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump. The parties reviewed the plan for future bilateral and multilateral meetings. At the end of the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Donald Trump to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
