First Direct Belarus Container Train Arrives in Uzbekistan
The first direct container train from Belarus arrived in Uzbekistan, marking a new step in expanding bilateral transport, logistics and trade cooperation.
The inaugural direct container train from Belarus, named the Slavyansky Caravan, pulled into Chukursay station, part of the Tashkent Regional Railway Hub branch, on August 5th. A reception was held to commemorate the arrival of the train.
Among those present at the event were senior officials from Uzbekistan Railways, Temiryulinfratuzilma, and the Tashkent Regional Railway Hub branch, alongside representatives from the Belarusian Embassy in Uzbekistan and members of the press.
Attendees highlighted that the establishment of this new rail link represents a tangible result of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to Belarus and his discussions with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
According to participants, the two presidents had identified key areas for bolstering their strategic partnership, increasing bilateral trade, and fostering industrial collaboration. Within this framework, the new route is viewed as a concrete step towards developing contemporary transport and logistics infrastructure and executing joint projects.
It was also noted that the rail transport of agricultural goods and other freight was a topic of discussion during bilateral meetings held in Belarus's Vitebsk region between July 11th and 14th.
Train No. 3034, comprising 51 wagons, began its journey from Orsha-Vostochnaya station on July 30th. It traveled a distance of 3,822 kilometers before reaching Chukursay station.
Uzbekistan Railways stated its commitment to further expanding collaboration with Belarusian Railway, enhancing international transport corridors, implementing advanced logistics solutions, and fostering an environment conducive to continued growth in bilateral trade between the two nations.
