Ferghana and Balkh provinces agreed to expand trade, economic, and investment ties during a meeting between regional leaders in Mazar-i-Sharif.

Ferghana and Balkh Forge Closer Economic Links
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) –– Officials from Ferghana Region and Balkh Province have committed to strengthening their trade, economic, investment, and interregional collaboration. This agreement was reached during discussions in Mazar-i-Sharif between Khayrullo Bozorov, the Khokim of Ferghana Region, and Muhammad Yusuf Wafa, the Governor of Balkh Province.
The meeting focused on strategies to elevate the existing partnership between the two regions and to foster cultural and humanitarian connections. A key area of discussion involved the initiation of collaborative projects across various sectors, including textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and the production of building materials, among other industrial fields.
Delegates from Balkh Province were briefed on Ferghana Region's economic and investment prospects, the incentives available to foreign investors, and the opportunities presented by its free economic zones. Both parties concurred on the importance of increasing direct engagement between their respective business communities and boosting the volume of goods exchanged.
A specific initiative highlighted was the plan to transport fruits cultivated in Balkh Province to Ferghana Region for advanced processing. The meeting concluded with the outlining of steps designed to further interregional cooperation and ensure the successful implementation of joint ventures.
