Congressman Chuck Edwards drops re-election bid after ethics investigation

U.S. Representative Chuck Edwards has ended his campaign for re-election subsequent to a House committee's decision to censure him due to sexual harassment claims.
"Following extensive prayer, careful consideration, and numerous discussions with my loved ones, I have reached the difficult conclusion to withdraw from my re-election efforts," he stated in a social media update published early Wednesday.
His declaration follows closely on the heels of the House Ethics Committee's finding that Edwards "exhibited ongoing unprofessional and unsuitable behavior," after its multi-month inquiry into the accusations leveled against him.
The Republican congressman has refuted any misconduct, and the committee's findings do not constitute a determination of guilt.
