Comfortable urban environment: officials familiarized themselves with important projects

Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umrzokov, First Deputy Head of the Department for Public Safety and Rule of Law of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Azimov, and heads of city departments, authorized agencies and district khokimiyats familiarized themselves with projects aimed at creating modern, safe and accessible public spaces.

First, samples of equipment proposed for installation in children's and sports grounds in the courtyards of the capital were reviewed. Special attention was paid to the quality of structures, safe coating, long-term durability of equipment, as well as the creation of conditions for children and adults with disabilities. Officials were instructed to ensure the installation of equipment that meets modern safety, quality and inclusiveness requirements. It was emphasized that children's and sports grounds should not be objects built in the name of children, but full-fledged places that all residents can freely use.

The next destination was Yunusabad district. Here, work is underway to create a 24/7 format area in some sections of Yangishahar and Amir Temur streets. The issues of landscaping, organizing pedestrian walkways, placing service facilities, lighting, landscaping, ensuring security, and using the area around the clock were studied. Specific measures and deadlines for their elimination were set for the identified shortcomings.

At the third location, work has begun on the comprehensive development of the area adjacent to the scientific and educational memorial complex named after the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and its transformation into an open public park. These works are being carried out within the framework of the instructions of the Head of the Presidential Administration. The main task is to turn the park into an open, interconnected and convenient place for people.

The project includes the following:

— removal of fences that restrict access to the park;

— creation of convenient entrances and a single network of pedestrian routes;

— creating a fully barrier-free environment for people with disabilities, the elderly, families with children and people with strollers;

— preserving green spaces, creating shaded walking areas and places for quiet recreation;

— installing modern lighting, navigation and safety equipment.

The main goal of the work being carried out is not just installing equipment or improving certain areas, but creating accessible, safe and comfortable spaces that the population can use every day.
