Car carrying eight teenagers crashes on wrong side of motorway
Gardaí (Irish police) say eight male juveniles were in one vehicle.
Nine individuals sustained injuries in Dublin after a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the M50 motorway collided with another car. The crash occurred at approximately 5:30 AM local time on Sunday, southbound at Junction 12, Firhouse.
One of the vehicles involved was carrying eight male teenagers and was reportedly driving down an on-ramp when it struck a second car head-on. All eight juveniles were transported to various hospitals for medical attention, with one currently in critical condition. The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his 20s, also suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.
In the aftermath of the incident, the southbound stretch of the M50 between Junction 12 and Junction 11 has been closed, and local diversions are in effect, according to An Garda Síochána (Irish police). A forensic collision examination is underway.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information, individuals who were in the area between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM, or those possessing dashcam footage of the incident or surrounding areas, to contact the gardaí.
