Astana Hosts Talks on Preparations for Central Asia – Korea Summit

Astana was the site of the third Senior Officials' Meeting, a preparatory gathering for the forthcoming summit involving the heads of state from Central Asian nations and the Republic of Korea, as reported by Dunyo Information Agency, which cited Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Attendees at the meeting included the deputy foreign ministers from the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, alongside Kyrgyzstan's Ambassador to Astana. Uzbekistan's delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mirvokhid Azimov.

During the discussions, participants reached a consensus on the thematic direction and agenda for the upcoming summit.

The current status and future outlook of collaboration between the Republic of Korea and the Central Asian countries were also examined, with all parties reiterating their shared commitment to advancing partnerships in key areas of mutual concern.

In a separate engagement during the event, Mirvokhid Azimov conducted a bilateral meeting with Chung Eui-hae, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Korea.

The two officials exchanged perspectives on pertinent matters concerning Uzbek-South Korean cooperation, deliberated on the schedule for upcoming high-level and top-level engagements, and identified promising avenues for the continued enhancement of their bilateral relationship.
