A young man who killed a 77-year-old taxi driver in Jizzakh by taking him to a pasture under the pretext of buying a sheep was sentenced to 20 years in prison. This was reported by "Daryo" with reference to court documents.
As it turned out, Sh.Kh., an unemployed man born in 1999 in Bakhmal district, left Tashkent for Samarkand region in late March in search of work. However, for some reason, he got stuck in Gallaorol district and spent the night on the street. After a night of vigilance, Sh.Kh. arrived at the taxi stand in the district center and got into a Nexia-3 car owned by the 77-year-old driver J.B. as a passenger.
Initially, they were headed towards Samarkand. However, Sh.Kh. saw money in the driver's pocket on the way and decided to seize it. After that, he told J.B. that he had changed his mind and was going to buy sheep in the mountainous area, and asked him to go to a pasture far from the populated area in Sharof Rashidov district. For this, he promised to give an additional 40 thousand soums to the fare.
Upon reaching the destination, he took two pieces of wire from the trunk of the car, saying that he needed it to tie the sheep. Then, after leading J.B. to the stream and making sure that no one was around, he punched him in the jaw. The 77-year-old man fell to the ground from the unexpected blow. After that, Sh.Kh. tied the taxi driver’s hands and feet with wire and strangled him to death.
After the crime was committed, he took 150 thousand soums, a Nokia 1280 phone and a car key from the taxi driver's pocket and set off in the deceased's Nexia-3 car to meet a girl named Sevinch, who lives in the Pastdargam district of the Samarkand region. On the way, he filled the car with gas and picked up passengers to earn money and delivered them to their destinations.
Sh.Kh. was stopped by road patrol officers while passing through the city of Samarkand and detained in a procedural manner.
By the verdict of the Zarbdor District Court on criminal cases, Sh.Kh. was found guilty of Article 97, Part 2 (Clause "v, i", Intentional murder), Article 164, Part 3 (Clause "a, g", Assault) and Article 267, Part 1 (Hijacking a vehicle) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment by partial addition of the sentences imposed under Article 59 of the Criminal Code.
In addition, the 8-year sentence imposed by the Pastdargam District Court for Criminal Cases of Sh.Kh. on May 21, 2026 was partially added to the sentence and a total of 20 years of imprisonment was imposed.
Earlier, it was reported that a man who killed his acquaintance after a money dispute of 600,000 soums in Namangan was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
