Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The governor of Andijan region has issued a decree to allocate 730 million soums from the reserve fund of the regional budget to finance activities related to registering the "Andijan Polka" dance as a record and including it in the Guinness Book of Records.

According to the local authorities, this decision was made based on the official note of the head of the regional khokimiyat secretariat and the appeal of the regional department of culture.

The allocated funds are intended to cover the costs associated with the implementation of the record-setting project and its international registration.

At the end of June, a grand cultural event was held in Andijan. Thousands of participants simultaneously performed the "Andijan Polka". According to the results of this action, the dance was officially included in the Guinness Book of Records.

But the event was also marred by tragedy.

A 15-year-old schoolgirl who was supposed to take part in a public dance performance on the day of the event died in a traffic accident.
