14 different fish species found in the Kampirabad basin.
Scientists from Fergana and Osh State Universities conducted a joint ichthyological expedition in the Kampirabad basin. During the six-day study, experts identified 14 species of fish.
The research was conducted in the lower reaches of the Kurshab, Karadarya, Yassi, Zerger and Keldyuk rivers, which flow into the Kampirabad reservoir.
Experts collected samples from two species of fish found for molecular genetic analysis. Additional studies will continue in laboratory conditions.
Scientists noted that the list of 14 identified species does not include common carp, white humpback and swordfish, which are widespread in the Kampirabad reservoir.
Following the research, the universities agreed to expand cooperation in the field of ichthyology and biodiversity studies.
