Yandex Uzbekistan Partners with the First National Transport Hackathon

The first National Transport Hackathon, organized by the Ministry of Transport, the Digital Transport Center, and Yandex Uzbekistan, has kicked off in Uzbekistan. Over the course of three days, participants will develop digital services and solutions based on artificial intelligence for the transport industry.

The event aims to develop an artificial intelligence ecosystem in transport, accelerate the digitalization of the industry, and support young professionals. Participants will present projects to improve public mobility in air, rail, and road transport, integrate AI technologies into the Ministry of Transport's information systems, and analyze and effectively use big data.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov noted that digitalization of the transport industry remains a key focus of ongoing reforms. He emphasized that the knowledge, initiatives, and technological competencies of young people are essential for the further development of the industry. The National Transport Hackathon is planned to become a regular event on the Ministry of Transport's calendar. First Deputy Minister of Transport Mamanbiy Omarov reported that the ministry is currently implementing over 40 digital projects. Approximately 5 million people use the ministry's information systems monthly, and all 22 government services have been digitized. The next stage will be the broader implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, and the hackathon aims to facilitate the development of practical solutions in this area.

Vice President for Strategic Development at Yandex Uzbekistan Sardor Kadyrov emphasized that modern transportation systems are increasingly relying on data, algorithms, and artificial intelligence technologies.

"Today, transportation is no longer just roads, cars, or railways. Data, algorithms, and artificial intelligence are playing an increasingly important role in its development, helping to make travel safer, faster, and more convenient. At Yandex, we use machine learning, mapping technologies, and big data analysis every day to develop urban mobility services. "It's important for us to share this experience and support initiatives where young professionals can apply their knowledge to solving real-world problems in Uzbekistan's transport sector," he noted.

During the hackathon, experts in transportation, artificial intelligence, data analysis, and digital products will collaborate with participants to create prototypes and digital services.

The solutions developed are expected to improve the efficiency of Uzbekistan's transport system and the quality of services for the public.
