Yandex Maps will warn drivers about schools in Tashkent.

At the start of the school year, Yandex Maps launched a "Caution, School" warning and encouraged drivers to plan routes with traffic congestion in mind.

Yandex Maps has launched a new "Caution, School" feature in Tashkent, which will warn drivers when approaching educational institutions. The launch coincides with the start of the new school year in Uzbekistan, which begins on September 2, Yandex's press service reported.

This feature is designed for drivers whose routes take them near schools. "Caution, Children" signs will appear on the map, and if the speed limit is exceeded, the app will activate a voice alert: "Be careful, there's a school nearby." The alert is intended to remind drivers to slow down and be more vigilant on road sections where children may be present.

Yandex Maps also recommends that drivers check the traffic conditions in advance on the morning of September 2 and compare various travel options. Users can choose between driving, public transit, and walking to find the most suitable option based on current conditions.

When using public transit, the app displays the location of the bus in real time and predicts its arrival time at the stop. This allows you to adjust your plans before leaving home if your usual route proves less convenient.

A "Green Route" option is available for walking. When plotting a route, the app takes into account the presence of trees and areas with less direct sunlight, suggesting a more comfortable route.

Yandex Maps also noted increased user interest in destinations associated with the start of the school year. On the first day of school in 2025, the "Science and Education" category was searched for 36.2% more often than on other days in September.

In Tashkent, searches for schools increased by almost 75% on this day. Private schools were searched for almost 87% more often, lyceums by 61%, and higher education institutions by more than 40%.

Interest also increased in places needed for preparing for classes. Searches for copy shops increased by 59.2%, and for stationery stores by 14.3%.

To save time in the morning, users can open the school card in Yandex Maps ahead of time, check the entrance location, and save the route. The service can also be used to find nearby office supply stores or copy shops and check their opening hours.

Yandex Maps allows you to search for organizations and city landmarks, view information about them, including opening hours, photos, ratings, and reviews, and plan directions by car, public transportation, or on foot. The app is available for download on Google Play and the App Store.
