Woman dies and child injured in collision between car and truck
A car collided with a truck on the R162 in Shercock, County Cavan, after 17:00 local time on Friday.
A woman in her fifties has died and a child has been seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision in the Republic of Ireland.
The crash, involving a car and a truck, took place on Friday after 5:00 PM local time on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock, in County Cavan.
The woman, who was operating the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A young girl, who had been a passenger, is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
Gardaí, the Irish police force, stated that several other individuals traveling in the vehicles were given medical treatment at the site of the incident, but no further injuries have been reported.
The road is presently closed to facilitate forensic examinations, and traffic diversions are in effect. Gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
