When will Alexander Volkanovsky retire?

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovsky has announced that he may retire after his fight against Russian mixed martial artist Movsar Yevloyev.

The Australian fighter stressed that he has no plans to retire from the sport yet. However, he said that if the fight against Yevloyev is too difficult for him, he will consider retiring.

"If the fight goes too badly, I will retire. If everything goes as well as in my previous fight and I don't get injured, I will continue my career. I make a decision about my future after each fight. I have no intention of retiring yet and I am almost sure that I will continue," said the featherweight champion.

The fight between Alexander Volkanovsky and Movsar Yevloyev will take place on October 24 in Abu Dhabi as the main event of the UFC 333 tournament.

Yevloyev is the number one contender in the welterweight division and has won all 20 of his professional fights.

Volkanovski, 37, has a career record of 28 wins and 4 losses. He last fought on February 1, 2026, at UFC 325 against Mexican Diego Lopez. The fight lasted a full five rounds. In the end, the Australian fighter won by unanimous decision.
