When assigning pensions to citizens of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, length of service is taken into account

When assigning pensions for citizens of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the length of service is taken into account. This is stipulated in the agreement on pension provision signed between the two countries on August 23. According to the Pension Fund, this document is aimed at guaranteeing the pension rights of citizens who have worked in both countries.

**Accounting of work experience in two countries**

In accordance with the agreement, the length of service of a citizen in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is taken into account when determining the right to a pension. If the length of service in one country is not sufficient to grant the right to a pension, the relevant length of service in the second country may be added. In such cases, each country assigns a pension in proportion to the length of service accumulated in its territory and calculates its amount.

**Preservation of the right to a pension when moving**

The assigned pension shall not be reduced, suspended or canceled due to the fact that the citizen resides in the territory of another party or a third country. At the request of a citizen, a pension may be paid in the state that assigned it or transferred to the territory of another state.

**The procedure for citizens' applications will be simplified**

A citizen may submit an application for the assignment, recalculation, payment or revision of a pension to the relevant institution in the state where he or she resides. In cases provided for by the agreement, such an application is also considered to have been submitted to the second state, and the necessary information and documents will be sent between the authorized institutions of the two states.

**Direct cooperation of pension authorities will be established**

The authorized bodies and relevant institutions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will directly exchange information on issues related to the assignment and payment of pensions and provide mutual practical assistance. This will simplify administrative procedures for citizens and promptly resolve pension issues.

The Pension Fund's information notes that the agreement will enter into force after the completion of the relevant procedures. The organizational and technical procedures for its implementation will be determined by a separate administrative agreement between the parties.

It should be recalled that during Ilham Aliyev's visit to Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on eternal friendship. It was also announced that new joint projects between the two countries were launched, and the leading Azerbaijani bank, ABB, entered the Uzbek market.
