According to the Uzhydromet climate review, in July 2026, the average monthly air temperature in most parts of Uzbekistan was 1.3-2.3 degrees above the climatic norm, and in some parts of the northern and desert regions - 2.5-2.8 degrees.
The temperature regime in July was variable. At the beginning of the month, the air temperature was much cooler than usual, 3-5 degrees below the climatic norm. The daytime temperature did not exceed +27…+32 degrees.
However, starting from the second five days of July, the air temperature increased day by day. In most regions of Uzbekistan, the heat peaked on July 18-19, and in the north-western regions, extreme heat began two days earlier.
These days, the air temperature rose to +43…+45 degrees, and in the southern and desert regions to +46…+50 degrees. New records for maximum air temperatures were set in a number of regions. In the regional centers of the Fergana Valley, maximum temperature records were updated twice.
The heat in Tashkent reached its peak on July 19. On this day, the air temperature was +44.3 degrees, which was only 0.3 degrees lower than the absolute maximum recorded in the capital on July 18, 1997 (+44.6 degrees).
The nights also became cool during this period. The lowest temperature did not fall below +25…+28 degrees, and in some places in the southern and desert regions it was +30…+33 degrees.
At the beginning of the third decade of July, under the influence of a relatively cool air current, the temperature briefly dropped to the climatic norm and slightly below it. However, by the end of the month, the air temperature again rose by 2-3 degrees above normal.
The number of days with air temperatures above +40 degrees Celsius was 3-8 days in the central and eastern regions, 9-18 days in the remaining regions, and 19-23 days in the Kyzylkum desert and some districts of the south. This indicator was significantly higher than the long-term average.
Dry weather typical of July was maintained in Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions throughout the month.
Local short-term rains fell on some days in Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, Syrdarya regions, Fergana Valley, as well as in some places in Samarkand and Jizzakh regions.
Heavy rains were observed in the mountainous regions of Tashkent, Namangan and Fergana regions. In some places, the wind speed increased to 15-20 m/s. On July 1, in Nukus, and on July 19, in some areas of the Ustyurt plateau (Jaslyk), the wind speed reached 22-25 m/s. Dust storms were also recorded in some districts.
