What is the procedure for transferring and resuming studies?
According to the legislation, a student is allowed to transfer from one higher education institution to another in certain cases. For example, if a student gets married, he or she can apply to transfer to the higher education institution in the area where his or her spouse permanently resides.

How is the transfer or resumption of studies from one higher education institution to another carried out?
According to the current regulations, students are allowed to transfer their studies from one higher education institution to another, primarily to compatible and related educational programs.
If there is no compatible or related educational program in a given region, it is also possible to transfer studies to a non-compatible educational program under certain conditions.
In particular, this is allowed in the following cases:
* When a student applies for a transfer of studies to a higher education institution in the region where his spouse permanently resides due to marriage;
* When the place of work of an employee of a state body is changed by the relevant ministry or department to another region, and his spouse or minor child applies for a transfer of studies based on the recommendation of the head of the relevant ministry or department.
In addition, students may be transferred or reinstated based on decisions of higher education institutions, ministries and departments that have HEIs in their system, and the State Commission for Admission to Educational Institutions of Uzbekistan.
This procedure is established in the "Regulations on the Procedure for Transfer, Reinstatement and Expulsion of Students from Higher Education Institutions", approved by Resolution No. 578 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 13, 2025.
