– We came to this game with good preparation and high spirits. All the players are working together as a cohesive team. Before the game, I told the guys that there is no such concept as a "friendly match," and that every match must be approached seriously. I asked them to play at a high tempo and with intensity. We still need to develop in many aspects. But step by step, we are forming a good team.
– Now a difficult away match against South Korea (on October 6) awaits us. All the players are in good condition, and we need to move in the right direction.
– I want all players to train at the same tempo, and I treat everyone equally. I do not have the concept of a "starting lineup" or a "substitute player." Today, it was important to substitute some players and give others the opportunity to show themselves.
– People might think the game was easy. But we made the match easier for ourselves because we started correctly, ran a lot, and pressed correctly. Syria is not an easy opponent. We watched their game against Jordan, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Therefore, we prepared seriously for this match as well.
– For me, the character of the team and showing team play are more important than the result. We showed this in the match against Iran as well. They are one of the strongest teams in Asia.
– Of course, it is not always possible to play perfectly. In training, we are working on all aspects - from playing the ball out of defense to set pieces. One of the main aspects we need to focus on is sensing the right time to apply pressure.
– Playing against top teams in the World Cup, we saw how important it is to be intense and aggressive in such matches. If you press against a strong team at an inconvenient time, the opponent will easily get out of that situation. Therefore, we are teaching the players when to step forward and apply pressure.
– Football is a game of time and space. When the opponent has the ball, we must narrow the space in order not to leave them time to think. When we have the ball, on the contrary, we must expand the free spaces to have more time. If you do not press at the right time, you can face problems even against a weak team. I am glad that in recent days, the players have understood well what we are demanding from them.
