Views wanted on buying and selling homes
Deputy Malcolm Ferey says the consultation will help officials identify opportunities for improvement
Views are being invited on the process of buying and selling houses in Jersey, in an effort to spot opportunities to improve transactions.
The island’s minister for housing has opened a public consultation to look at the current residential property transaction process, including what works well and what problems arise.
Deputy Malcolm Ferey said officials wanted to hear from islanders and property professionals about their experiences of buying or selling homes, in order to identify what needs to be improved.
The move follows a States Assembly decision to review the process. The consultation closes on 18 December.
Officials said the consultation is intended to gather evidence on the process before deciding whether changes are required.
Ferey added: "While many people complete the process without difficulty, others face delays, unexpected costs or uncertainty, and some sales fall through.
"Whether your experience was positive or negative, your views will help us better understand how the current process works in practice and identify opportunities for improvement."
