Venezuelan opposition leader María Machado returns after months in exile
Machado had left the country just a month before the US government seized Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado has come back to Venezuela after more than 10 months in exile, returning to a tense political environment.
“I am here. With you,” Machado wrote on X on Sunday.
Her ally, former presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, confirmed the development minutes later, posting: “I am thrilled to announce to you that our leader, my dear María Corina, is on Venezuelan soil.”
In January, a month after Machado left Venezuela to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in Norway, the US seized her rival, President Nicolás Maduro.
The Trump administration then supported his deputy, Delcy Rodríguez, as leader, and she was sworn in as interim president before later signing an oil deal with the US.
