Uzum Market outage coincided with a major accident at Yandex Cloud
On the night of October 8, a large-scale technical outage occurred in the operation of Uzum Market. Almost simultaneously, Yandex Cloud reported power supply disruptions in one of the availability zones of its cloud platform.
Uzum stated that the technical issues affected the sellers' personal accounts, order pickup points, and warehouse systems. Temporarily, warehouses and order reception points did not accept goods, nor did they issue returns. The company asked partners not to come to the warehouses for the time being and announced that all unaccepted deliveries could be rescheduled to other timeslots without penalties.
The Uzum team reported that they are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it. The company promised to provide further updates separately.
At the same time, Yandex Cloud detected a power supply disruption in the ru-central1-b availability zone. As a result, some of the cloud services became unavailable. Later, the company reported that it had switched the load to other zones, but ru-central1-b itself remained unavailable, and the creation of new resources could be limited.
In parallel, reports emerged of a fire in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, where a Yandex data center is located. According to Russian media, the fire was caused by a drone attack.
Yandex itself confirms the presence of its data center in this city and indicates that its servers host, among others, Yandex Cloud clients.
