Uzbekistan's insurance market grew in the first half of the year

In the first half of 2026, insurance premiums in Uzbekistan increased by 28.6%, and the volume of insurance payments increased by more than 80%.

According to the results of the first half of 2026, key indicators of the insurance sector in Uzbekistan showed positive dynamics. Growth in insurance premiums and payments, an increase in the number of active insurance policies, and an increase in the authorized capital of insurance companies were noted, according to the National Association of Insurance Producers (NAPP).

During the reporting six-month period, the number of active insurance contracts reached 13.1 million, a 14.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The volume of collected insurance premiums increased by 28.6%, reaching 8 trillion soums.

The authorized capital of insurance companies increased by 37.2%, reaching 4.3 trillion soums. The most significant increase was recorded in the volume of insurance payments, which increased by 81.3%, reaching 2.3 trillion soums. The total volume of insurance liabilities of insurers reached 4,421.3 trillion soums, a 48.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

As of the end of the first half of 2026, 35 insurance companies operated in the insurance market of Uzbekistan. Of these, 27 companies operated in the general insurance segment, seven specialized in life insurance, and one company was engaged exclusively in reinsurance.

In addition, 10 insurance brokers, seven actuaries with the relevant qualification certificates, and 3,684 insurance agents operated in the country.
