Gas condensate production also went down, slipping from 849,200 tons to 729,200 tons. Coal output declined to 5.4 million tons, and oil production dropped to 482,200 tons.

Even with lower domestic production, Uzbekistan’s oil refineries raised gasoline output year on year from 890,100 tons to 913,200 tons. Diesel production came to 979,000 tons.

In March, state-owned oil and gas company Uzbekneftegaz said it planned to secure $1.2 billion in investment to boost geological exploration and resource extraction on the Ustyurt Plateau.

The company is also expanding cooperation with Chinese partners. It has formed cooperation with BGP, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and is in discussions with XIBU on well drilling.

Agreements have also been reached with Shandong Molong and Hengyang Valin to provide pipes for drilling wells to depths of up to 7,000 meters.

Gas imports reach $1.4 billion

As of October 1, Uzbekistan’s gas exports had fallen 34.5% year on year to $357.9 million, while imports rose 50% to about $1.4 billion.

The country also boosted exports of oil and petroleum products by 44.4% to $672.5 million.

Imports of oil and petroleum products increased 6% to about $1.5 billion. Of that amount, gasoline made up $454 million, while diesel imports totaled $189.1 million.
