Uzbekistan and Xinjiang businesses discuss investment projects in healthcare and construction

Uzbekistan and business representatives from China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have discussed broadening investment and trade cooperation, with emphasis on healthcare, medical tourism, construction and technology localization.

Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Ilzat Kasimov met with a delegation of business representatives from Xinjiang to examine opportunities for deepening cooperation and building direct ties between the business communities of both sides. At the meeting, the parties looked at prospects for expanding investment, trade and economic cooperation. Another topic was strengthening direct contacts between Uzbek companies and businesses operating in Xinjiang.

Special attention was paid to possible joint projects in medicine and healthcare. The sides also discussed cooperation in medical tourism, including opportunities for businesses from both countries to take part in related projects. Construction was identified as another field for cooperation. The talks covered the production of modern construction and finishing materials, as well as ways to localize advanced technologies in Uzbekistan.

The meeting also discussed the participation of business representatives from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the International Investment Forum set for Nukus on September 25–26.

The forum is expected to offer an additional platform for Xinjiang representatives to explore investment opportunities and establish contacts with businesses and other participants in Uzbekistan. After the talks, the parties reaffirmed their interest in continuing the practical development of joint projects in the areas discussed during the meeting.
