Uzbekistan, Türkiye discuss strengthening Khorezm-Hatay ties

Uzbekistan and Türkiye recently engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering their bilateral and regional collaboration, according to UzA. This occurred during a visit by a Turkish delegation, headed by Hatay Province Governor Mustafa Masatli, to Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis Legislative Chamber.

Nuriddin Ismoilov, the Legislative Chamber Speaker, addressed the progress of relations and cooperation between the two nations during the meeting. The Uzbek representatives also informed the Turkish delegation about the reforms initiated under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the functions of the Legislative Chamber. Governor Masatli acknowledged Uzbekistan's advancements over the last ten years and its involvement on the international stage. He also recognized Uzbekistan's aid to Hatay Province in the aftermath of the earthquake.

This assistance included the construction of 24 multi-story residential buildings, providing 306 apartments, in the Arsuz district, a project initiated and directed by President Mirziyoyev. The meeting further explored avenues for direct cooperation between Hatay Province and various regions within Uzbekistan.

A key focus was placed on forging and strengthening connections between Uzbekistan's Khorezm region and Hatay. Both parties deliberated on the prospects for enhancing regional cooperation as an integral part of the broader bilateral relationship between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

Previously, Daryo reported on the Uzbek-Turkish Business Forum held at Hilton Tashkent City. This event gathered officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, the OSTIM Foundation, and approximately 170 company representatives to investigate opportunities for expanding trade, investment, and industrial cooperation. Data presented at the forum indicated a 43.8% increase in bilateral trade over the past five years, with investments projected to reach $3.2 billion by 2025. Currently, about 2,200 joint ventures are operational in Uzbekistan across sectors such as construction, logistics, and textiles.
