Uzbekistan Shuts Down 129 Illegal Liquefied Gas Sales Points

Uzbekistan has identified 286 violations and shut down 129 illegal liquefied gas storage and sales points since the start of 2026.

Uzbekistan has closed 129 unauthorized liquefied gas sales operations, according to a report from Hududgaztaminot. Since the start of 2026, authorities have uncovered 286 infractions related to the provision of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to residents. These inspections led to the shutdown of 129 illicit liquefied gas storage and sales locations, frequently referred to as "bunkers" and "pits."

Hududgaztaminot stated that these monitoring efforts successfully stopped the unlawful sale of 3,530 household gas cylinders and 25.8 metric tons of liquefied gas. Furthermore, the theft of 71.6 metric tons of fuel was discovered. All documentation pertaining to these incidents has been forwarded to law enforcement for restitution and legal evaluation.

To enhance transparency in the liquefied gas distribution network, minimize human error, and prevent misuse, Hududgaztaminot is implementing digital tools, including a Face ID biometric identification system. The company reports that this technology has been instrumental in preventing numerous instances of illegal household gas cylinder distribution.

Despite these ongoing initiatives, some individuals persist in attempting to circumvent regulations, illegally sell liquefied gas, and create opportunities for corruption.

Hududgaztaminot affirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to combat corruption, improve openness and transparency in the liquefied gas distribution system, ensure prompt detection of violations, and safeguard consumer interests.
