Uzbekistan ranked 63rd out of 191 countries in terms of e-government development.

Digital transformation is a key factor in Uzbekistan's development, encompassing virtually all areas of life—from public administration and business to education, finance, and everyday services.

In recent years, the country has been consistently building its digital infrastructure, expanding access to online services, and integrating modern technologies into government work.

One of the most notable results of this process has been the development of e-government: government services are gradually moving to a digital format, becoming more accessible, faster, and more convenient for citizens.

In the latest UN Global E-Government Development Index (2024), Uzbekistan ranked 63rd with a relatively high score of 0.7999.

Among the CIS and Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan ranks behind Kazakhstan, which entered the top 25 at 24th place, and Russia, which ranked 43rd. However, it is ahead of Georgia (69th), Azerbaijan (74th), Belarus (77th), and Kyrgyzstan (78th).

The digitalization of government services in Uzbekistan is gradually expanding far beyond simply converting individual certificates and applications into an online format. Today, digital solutions cover virtually all key areas of government interaction with citizens and businesses—from business registration and permits to social payments, education, healthcare, and other everyday services.

To this end, on January 1, 2024, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On additional measures to improve the ranking of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United Nations e-Government Survey" dated September 14, 2023, No. PP-308, the Digital Government Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan was launched.

As part of the further digital transformation of the economy and society, Uzbekistan adopted the "Uzbekistan 2030" Strategy, which sets out 100 goals in five priority areas by 2030 and defines performance indicators. Goals 33, 57, and 77 are directly related to digitalization.

In particular, Goal 57 of the "Uzbekistan 2030" Strategy calls for the launch of 300 priority projects under the "Digital Government" program, as well as the coverage of the city of Tashkent, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and regional centers with a fifth-generation network. Goal 77 also defines performance indicators for expanding the digitalization of public services.

Given the current state of affairs, it is safe to say that Uzbekistan has significant potential to enter the top 30 countries in the UN e-government development rankings in the coming years.
