Uzbekistan opens Korean language education center in Bukhara

Uzbekistan has inaugurated a Korean Language Training and Advanced Studies Center in Bukhara, alongside the start of a Korean Language program at Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute, signaling a new phase in educational cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea.

The opening ceremony was attended by Lee Yong Ung, director of the Tashkent Korean Education Center under the Embassy of South Korea in Uzbekistan, as well as regional education officials, university leaders, school teachers, and students studying Korean.

The new center is designed to offer more opportunities to learn Korean and strengthen students’ language abilities. It will also help improve the professional skills of Korean language teachers and encourage modern teaching methods. Its work is intended to deepen educational and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and South Korea while raising the quality of Korean language instruction in the Bukhara region.

The launch of the Korean Language program at Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute is expected to open up additional educational opportunities for young people and support the professional growth of educators.

The opening ceremony also included performances highlighting Uzbek and Korean culture, among them national dances performed by students of the center. Guests, teachers, and students additionally discussed and exchanged opinions on the development of Korean language education in the region.

According to the Bukhara regional education authorities, the Korean Language Training and Advanced Studies Center already operates in Tashkent and Bukhara. The creation of the Bukhara center and the launch of the university program are meant to further expand educational, scientific, and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
