Uzbekistan national rugby team player caught doping

A prohibited substance was detected in the doping sample of Uzbekistan national rugby team player Umar Usmonov. The sample was taken during the Summer Asian Games in Japan.

This was reported by the National Anti-Doping Agency. A metabolite of drostanolone, a substance from the S1 group of "Anabolic Agents," was found in the athlete's sample. It is included in the prohibited list and is not allowed for use either in-competition or out-of-competition.

The investigation into this case is ongoing. The National Anti-Doping Agency emphasized that a final decision has not yet been made. The agency promised to issue a separate official statement after the investigation is completed.

It is also noted that the Uzbekistan national team finished the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games with 70 medals and took fifth place in the overall team standings.
