Uzbekistan moves up 1 position in 2026 World Press Freedom Index, though situation “very complicated”

Uzbekistan has moved up one position in the latest World Press Freedom Index by Reporters Without Borders, ranking 147th out of 180 countries. However, the country’s overall score has declined, and media freedom remains “very complicated”.

The international organization Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans frontières, RSF) has unveiled its annual 2026 World Press Freedom Index, revealing that Uzbekistan advanced by one position to
