Uzbekistan launches free eco-business training with grants of up to $10,000

Uzbekistan has introduced a complimentary eco-business training initiative, offering grants of up to $10,000.

The Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development in Uzbekistan has rolled out a training program and competition aimed at entrepreneurs who are developing projects within the circular economy, waste sorting, and recycling industries.

This initiative is a collaborative effort with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office in Uzbekistan. It welcomes both new entrepreneurs and established business owners working in pertinent environmental fields. The training program is free, with all associated costs covered by the project. A maximum of 120 individuals will be chosen for the program, with training sessions held in three cities: Tashkent, Angren, and Nukus, each accommodating 40 participants.

At least half of the available spots are designated for women. The project also prioritizes the involvement and growth of young entrepreneurs. The training course spans six weeks, comprising 12 sessions led by expert trainers. Participants will gain knowledge in the circular economy and waste management, fundamental principles of entrepreneurship and business planning, marketing and branding, customer service, financial management, and business development strategies.

Furthermore, the program will offer hands-on assistance in crafting business plans and preparing grant applications. Beyond the core training, participants can access an accelerator program that includes personalized mentoring. This accelerator is designed to help participants refine and prepare their business concepts for execution. Graduates who actively engage in training and complete all necessary assignments will qualify to enter a project competition.

Through this competition, participants will have the opportunity to vie for grants of up to $10,000 to fund their eco-business ventures. The program focuses on both new business ideas and existing projects related to the circular economy, waste sorting, recycling, and related aspects of waste management. Applications must be submitted via the project's registration form by August 13.
