Uzbekistan has talked about speeding up cooperation projects with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through 2030 and broadening economic ties with major Japanese companies in energy, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, education and other fields.

Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with JICA President Akihiko Tanaka in Tokyo, where the two sides discussed accelerating projects under the Cooperation Program through 2030. They also shared views on expanding cooperation in healthcare, private sector support and education. Saidov said Uzbekistan is ready to further deepen practical cooperation with JICA through new projects and initiatives.

Saidov also took part in a roundtable with Takeshi Hashimoto, chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), as well as executives and representatives of leading Japanese companies.

Representatives of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Sojitz, All Nippon Airways, Shimizu, JETRO, Sumitomo, JBIC, Toyo Engineering, Toyota Tsusho, Marubeni, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and other major Japanese companies attended the meeting. The participants discussed expanding Uzbekistan–Japan economic cooperation, supporting Japanese companies operating in Uzbekistan and carrying out new investment projects.

Special attention was paid to opportunities in energy, transport and logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, textiles, digitalization and human resource development. Saidov noted that open and practical dialogue with Japanese businesses would help advance cooperation through concrete projects and new initiatives.
