For the first time since 1991, Uzbekistan has harvested 5 million tons of cotton.
This figure became a record for the domestic cotton industry for the specified period and strengthened the raw material base of the textile sector.
The growth in cotton harvest volumes opens up additional opportunities to increase the production of yarn, fabrics, and finished textile products at local enterprises. Furthermore, this expands the industry's potential in processing domestic raw materials.
In a number of regions of the country, the cotton harvest is still ongoing.
In particular, farmers are harvesting seed cotton, which will be used to prepare for next year's sowing campaign.
To obtain high-quality planting material, the plants must fully mature naturally.
At the same time, new cotton varieties designed for cultivation in desert conditions, heat, as well as on saline and sandy soils are being developed and tested in Uzbekistan. Such research is being conducted, in particular, in the Alat district of the Bukhara region.
Their task is to expand the geography of cotton growing and ensure stable yields in challenging natural and climatic conditions.
