In New York City, a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Vanuatu was signed, reports the "Dunyo" news agency.
On behalf of the governments of the two countries, the document was signed by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Head of the Mission of Vanuatu to the UN, Odo Tevi.
During the conversation, the need to further strengthen close cooperation between the countries within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies, was noted.
Vanuatu is an island nation located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, in the Melanesia region. Its population is approximately 350,000 people. The basis of its economy is agriculture (copra, cocoa, coffee), fishing, and tourism.
