Uzbekistan has amended the rules for registering with banking apps.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —

Citizens of Uzbekistan can now register with mobile banking apps and link their bank cards to them using a phone number registered in the name of a close relative. These amendments to information and cybersecurity requirements were registered by the Ministry of Justice on August 14, 2026, as announced by the ministry.

The amendments were made to the Regulation on Minimum Requirements for Ensuring Information and Cybersecurity, as well as Preventing Fraud in the Remote Provision of Financial Services to Individuals by Credit and Payment Institutions and Payment System Operators. The document is registered under number 3759-1.

According to the new rules, phone numbers registered to parents, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, or spouses can be used for registration. This also applies to parents, brothers, sisters, and children of spouses. Close kinship will be automatically confirmed through the appropriate system.

Banks will also set a maximum limit for money transfers through mobile apps that will not require code confirmation.

Additional measures are in place to protect users from malware and unauthorized remote access to mobile devices. If such threats are detected, users will receive not only an SMS message but also a push notification.

When accessing the mobile banking app from another device, linked bank cards will be temporarily blocked. Reactivating them will require code confirmation.

Furthermore, when making a money transfer through the mobile app, users will see not only the sender's details but also the recipient's first and last name. However, some of the recipient's personal information will be hidden.
