Uzbekistan fuel stations record $313.1mn in sales in August

Fuel stations across Uzbekistan generated UZS 3.69tn ($313.1mn) in sales revenue in August 2026, according to the Central Bank, with an average of 584,396 transactions a day and daily sales of UZS 119.1bn ($10.1mn).

Over the month, fuel stations processed a total of 18,116,296 transactions, while average daily revenue also came to UZS 119.1bn ($10.1mn). Although daily sales volumes varied during August, the overall pattern stayed stable.

Bank cards made up the biggest portion of fuel station payments, accounting for 91.2%, or UZS 108.6bn ($9.2mn), of average daily sales. Instant cards represented 6.6%, equal to UZS 7.8bn ($661,900), while fuel cards made up the remaining 2.2%, or UZS 2.7bn ($229,100).

In total, bank cards continued to be the main payment method at fuel stations in August. The data follows Uzbekistan’s introduction of mandatory cashless payments at fuel stations from April 1, 2026. Under the new regulations, fuel and gas sold through filling stations must be paid for with bank cards or electronic payment systems.

In April, it was reported that the shift initially caused difficulties for some drivers, especially those carrying cash but without enough money on their cards. Banks later rolled out measures at fuel stations, including card issuance and cash-to-card top-up services, to ease the transition.
