Uzbekistan entered the top five of the Asian Games, winning 70 medals

The national team of Uzbekistan completed the XX Summer Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 with 70 medals and took fifth place in the overall standings. After the end of the competition, the athletes returned to Tashkent, where they were met at the airport by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, the leadership of sports organizations, representatives of the capital's administration, and fans.

The Uzbek team's tally includes 21 gold, 25 silver, and 24 bronze awards. In total, the country was represented at the Games by 396 athletes in 42 sports.

Following the results of the tournament, Uzbekistan showed the best result among the countries of Central Asia and the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The fifth-place finish was already the third in a row for the national team at the Asian Games.

The martial arts representatives performed most successfully. Wrestlers won four gold and two bronze medals, while the men's boxing team took first place in the team standings. Judokas and taekwondo athletes were second in the medal standings only to athletes from Japan.

New names also emerged at the Games. Among them are Shokhsonam Sherzodova, Utkirbek Dzhuraev, Sita Kadamboeva, Turabek Khabibullaev, Barnokhon Sayfullaeva, Sharifa Davronova, Aytzhan Khalmakhanov, Dzhasurbek Dzhaisunov, Shakhzoda Nurmatova, and Sobir Safaraliev.

The delegation arrived in the capital on a special charter flight. Abdulla Aripov congratulated the athletes on the results achieved and conveyed to them the congratulations of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

One of the gold medal winners was Turabek Khabibullaev. He won the boxing tournament in the weight category up to 90 kilograms and brought the national team another gold.

Now, Uzbek athletes face preparation for the next major international competitions, including the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
