Uzbekistan Boxing Team Returns After Record Asian Triumph
Uzbekistan's boxing team received a ceremonial welcome in Tashkent after winning a record 33 medals at the Asian U19 and U23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's national boxing squad received a celebratory reception in Tashkent following their exceptional showing at the Asian U19 and U23 Boxing Championships held in Jakarta.
The Uzbek contingent, consisting of 38 athletes, secured an impressive haul of 21 gold, six silver, and six bronze medals. This achievement established a new championship record and solidified Uzbekistan's dominant standing in Asian boxing.
The welcoming event took place at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport. Champions, medalists, their coaches, and family members were greeted by figures from the sports community and members of the media.
Among those present at the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Sports Shahrillo Makhmudov, Head of the High-Performance Sports Development Centre under the Ministry of Defence Mansur Mamadaminov, Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation Saken Polatov, and the federation's Secretary General Shohid Tillaboev.
During the ceremony, representatives from the nation's sports organizations extended their congratulations to the athletes and coaching staff for their outstanding performance. They stated that the outcome demonstrated the superior level of preparation among Uzbekistan's boxers, the efficacy of the country's athlete development framework, and the successful efforts being made with emerging talent.
