Uzbekistan, Belarus discuss joint pharmaceutical projects and medicine production

Uzbekistan and Belarus have agreed to expand cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, with a focus on localizing the production of imported medicines, developing joint projects and entering third-country markets.

The talks took place in Minsk on the sidelines of the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM. Belarus, where representatives of Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry met with executives of leading Belarusian pharmaceutical companies.

The two sides discussed expanding cooperation in the sector, developing new projects, and ensuring their practical implementation.

Special attention was given to localizing in Uzbekistan the production of modern, high-tech medicines that are currently imported. The discussions also addressed joint efforts to enter third-country markets and the transfer of advanced technologies.

The participants examined opportunities to launch joint investment projects in the pharmaceutical sector.

The meetings ended with an agreement to keep up regular dialogue and continue work on joint initiatives in these areas.
