Uzbekistan and Turkey discussed drug prices
Uzbekistan and Turkey reviewed mechanisms for regulating the prices of medicines, including issues related to the formation and revision of reference prices.
The meeting took place on September 7, 2026, during an official visit of the Uzbek delegation to Turkey, and was held with the leadership of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK) under the Ministry of Health of Turkey.
The negotiations were attended by a team led by TİTCK President Hüseyin Çelik, representatives of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sector of Uzbekistan, as well as members of the Appeal Council for the Revision of Reference Prices.
The council includes responsible representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee.
The parties exchanged experience in regulating the pharmaceutical industry in both countries, paying special attention to the procedure for forming and revising reference prices for medicines.
The participants also discussed mechanisms for establishing reference prices, revising the cost of medicines, the procedure for considering appeals and complaints on pricing issues, and the organization of the Appeal Council's work.
The impact of pricing policy on the availability of medicines and public access to them was also addressed separately.
Following the meeting, representatives of the two countries exchanged views on improving the mechanisms for forming and revising reference prices, studying international experience, and further developing cooperation between the relevant organizations of Uzbekistan and Turkey.
The meeting was dedicated to the practical exchange of experience in the field of drug price regulation and the improvement of the reference pricing system.
