The Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry reports on talks between Uzbekistan and the German contract research organization, Charité Research Organization. Prospects for collaboration in clinical research and the creation of the necessary infrastructure were discussed.
On August 8 of this year, the Agency's Director, Abdulla Azizov, held an online meeting with Professor Frank Wagner, CEO of Charité Research Organization.
During the dialogue, the parties focused on the development of clinical research in Uzbekistan, striving to ensure its compliance with international standards. They also discussed ways to improve the infrastructure for conducting clinical trials, expand international cooperation, and improve the qualifications of relevant specialists.
Representatives of the German organization were briefed on ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry, the emerging legal and institutional framework for conducting clinical trials, and the potential of the BioPharma City pharmaceutical cluster.
In particular, the German side was shown the modern research centers being built within the cluster, a vivarium, and infrastructure that meets GMP and GLP standards. Opportunities available to foreign investors and research organizations were also highlighted.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the potential for organizing clinical trials in Uzbekistan that meet international requirements, implementing research projects, introducing advanced technologies and expertise, and training qualified personnel.
