Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have held talks on simplifying visa procedures in order to increase tourist flows between the two countries, the Tourism Committee said.

According to the committee, chairman Abdulaziz Akkulov met with Mohammed Abunayyan, co-chair of the Uzbekistan-Saudi Business Council and chairman of ACWA Power.

The discussions focused on easing visa regulations, promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in the Saudi market, and developing tour packages designed for local tourists, the committee said.

The two sides also exchanged views on expanding direct flights and seasonal charter services, as well as strengthening cooperation between tourism companies.

Participants additionally discussed attracting Saudi investors to tourism infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan, preparing master plans for tourism zones, and advancing public-private partnerships, the committee said.

Saudi Arabia previously introduced a multiple-entry umrah visa valid for one year. Its holders may enter the country multiple times and stay for up to 90 days per visit.
