Uzbekistan and OTS countries sign first space agreement

Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey have agreed to expand cooperation in the space sector. Representatives of the four countries signed the corresponding document in Antalya within the framework of the 77th International Astronautical Congress.

The agreement, signed on October 6, became the first document on cooperation in the space industry concluded between the countries within the Organization of Turkic States.

The parties plan to develop joint projects in the field of space technologies, satellites, scientific research, and industrial cooperation. Special attention will be paid to training specialists for this industry.

The Organization of Turkic States emphasized that the new document will lay the foundation for closer interaction between the countries and the expansion of joint space initiatives. In particular, this refers to developing the experience of the OTS-SAT project.

A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, is participating in the congress in Antalya. Representatives of the country are holding meetings with members of the international space community and discussing the development of international relations and new areas of cooperation.

The International Astronautical Congress is taking place in Antalya on October 5–9, bringing together representatives of space agencies, scientific organizations, government agencies, and private companies from more than 100 countries.

Meanwhile, the next, 79th International Astronautical Congress will be held in Uzbekistan. Samarkand will host it on October 9–13, 2028.
