Uzbekistan and Korea expand medical cooperation

Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea are deepening cooperation in healthcare.

An Uzbek delegation, led by Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, held a series of meetings in the Republic of Korea with representatives of organizations and companies working in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals, and medical technology. During the talks, issues of technology transfer, localization of production, and expanded investment cooperation were discussed.

In particular, at a meeting with Lee Yong-gyu, President of the Korea Medical Devices Association (KMDA), the parties discussed the potential for transferring medical equipment and technologies related to diagnostics, rehabilitation, and medical information technology (Medical IT) to Uzbekistan.

Separately, the issue of engaging more than 730 KMDA member companies in production and investment projects in Uzbekistan was raised.

During talks with the heads of leading pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies in South Korea, the participants discussed the prospects for the development of the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry in Uzbekistan. Key areas of discussion included attracting Korean brands, localizing production, and expanding investment cooperation.

Following these negotiations, agreements were reached to organize visits by executives of Korean companies to Uzbekistan.

In addition, the Uzbek delegation met with the management and experts of Yonsei University Severance Hospital and Asan Medical Center. The parties discussed the design and management of modern medical centers, the implementation of advanced medical technologies, and improving the operational efficiency of hospitals.

Particular attention was paid to the application of Korean experience in managing medical institutions in Uzbekistan.

These meetings are intended to expand practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals, and medical technology, as well as to facilitate the development of investment projects and the transfer of advanced technologies.
